COURT OF MASTER SOMMELIER INTRODUCTORY COURSE AND EXAMINATION
The Sacramento chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier will be awarding a total of three scholarships for three women from the Sacramento/Yolo/El Dorado region to attend the Court of Master Sommeliers Americas Introductory Course and Examination. The three scholarships in the amount of $595.00 each would cover the cost of the two-day course and examination for the qualified candidates.
The purpose of the award is to provide women in the Sacramento region an opportunity to enhance their careers in the food and fine beverage industry through increased knowledge of wine and wine service.
The scholarship will be provided for classes in California and Nevada. Please visit the Court of Master Sommeliers web site for a list of classes offered in 2019.
The scholarship will be awarded when the student has been accepted to the course. The Sacramento Les Dames d’Escoffier will pay the Court of Master Sommeliers Americas directly for the class.
Travel costs and accommodations will not be covered.
Women from the Sacramento/Yolo/El Dorado region should provide a resume and two references along with a cover letter explaining how the Introductory Sommelier Course and Examination would enhance their professional goals. Please send email to lgiguiere@matchbookwines.com.

About the Court of Master Sommeliers Americas:
The Court of Master Sommeliers was established to encourage improved standards of beverage knowledge and service in hotels and restaurants. Education was then, and remains today, the Court’s charter. The first successful Master Sommelier examination was held in the United Kingdom in 1969. By April 1977, the Court of Master Sommeliers was established as the premier international examining body.
